Contacts Tab

In ContactsLaw, opening or navigating to a contact will cause a new tab to be added to the top of the screen. A contact tab allows you to switch between contacts while working, and provides a home for the various lists, ledgers and summary information about the contact. All operations that can be performed on the contact are accessed from the contact's tab. Additionally, Matters for which the contact is the client will open under the tab.

The tab will use the contact's Display-as name as its caption (editable from the contact summary screen).

Matter Tab

When a file is opened, a contact tab for the client of the file is opened first. Under the contact tab, a file tab is opened, containing the summary information for the matter as well as all related lists, ledgers and operations. Several file tabs can be open under each contact tab. The active content is selected via the drop-down menu that appears when the contact tab is clicked; you can switch between files or return to the contact.

When a file tab is no longer required, it can be closed using the 'X' button which appears beside the interior tabs (Summary, Activities, etc). Alternatively, the entire contact tab (including all open files) can be closed.
