Microsoft released a [https://msrc.microsoft.com/blog/2023/12/microsoft-addresses-app-installer-abuse/ security bulletin] on December 28th, 2023 advising that the ''ms-appinstaller'' protocol has been disabled. This is the mechanism that allows users to install Windows apps directly from a web browser. Without this functionality, users will need to manually download and run the package bundle:


# Expand the "Additional Links" section on the installation page.
* From time to time, we may release new versions of the app which require a clean installation. If you encounter errors, try removing the old version first (via Windows Settings, ''Apps'', ''Installed Apps'').
# Click the "Package Bundle" link and follow the prompts to download the installer file.
# Run the installer file from the location it was downloaded to.

To install the ContactsLaw Desktop App:

  • Click here: ContactsLaw Desktop (opens in the Microsoft Store)
  • Follow the instructions in the store listing to install or update the application.

To check the version that is currently installed, you can either:

  • In Windows Settings, open Apps, then Installed Apps. Locate ContactsLaw Desktop Client and click Advanced options (via the ellipsis button). The version number is displayed under Specifications.
  • In the Desktop App, click File on the ribbon and then Account. The build number is displayed under Product Information.

Troubleshooting
