Troubleshooting
The ms-appinstaller protocol has been disabled
Microsoft released a security bulletin on December 28th, 2023 advising that the ms-appinstaller protocol has been disabled. This is the mechanism that allows users to install Windows apps directly from a web browser. Without this functionality, users will need to manually download and run the package bundle:
- Expand the "Additional Links" section on the installation page.
- Click the "Package Bundle" link and follow the prompts to download the installer file.
- Run the installer file from the location it was downloaded to.
