A role (with respect to documents) is a subscription-specific label that can be assigned to contacts in order to represent the parties to a document.

Built-In Roles

Some roles are defined by the system and carry a special meaning:

  • From - Sender contact. Defaults to the current member when generating documents.
  • To - Recipient/addressee contacts. Defaults to the matter liaison, primary client or current contact when generating documents.
  • CC - Carbon copy recipients (visible to all recipients). Defaults to the secondary clients when generating documents.
  • BCC - Blind carbon copy recipients (not visible to other recipients).
  • Author - Author contact (for documents which are not treated as correspondence). Defaults to the current member when generating documents.
