Member
A member is a subscription-specific user profile. All actions within ContactsLaw are performed by a particular member.
A member can be either:
- An interactive user (with a CPMS ID); or
- A service account (a system component or third-party application)
Roles are assigned to members and determine their permissions.
Properties
Members have the following properties:
- Associated contact (for interactive users)
- Name as it appears to other members
- Whether the member is enabled (able to log in)
- Calendar/email synchronisation options
- Custom fields
- Related documents (typically used in document production)
- Fee earner type
- Performance targets
Provisioning
Although members can be created manually, they are more commonly added to a subscription through a provisioning process that occurs between CPMS ID and ContactsLaw.
When you add a user (or application) to a subscription via CPMS ID, they will immediately be able to log in as the system creates a member. Normal users are assigned the built-in User role, while subscription managers are assigned the Administrator role. You can add/remove roles at any time.
