cl-app Protocol

From ContactsLaw Documentation
The information in this section relates to a pre-release version of ContactsLaw and is not representative of the final product.

ContactsLaw provides a URI scheme (sometimes called a URL Protocol) that can be used to open items (contacts, matters, documents, etc) from hyperlinks that can be placed inside documents or in other applications.

Currently, the Desktop App is required to open these links. Users must have appropriate permissions to access the linked item.

Addresses which follow this scheme start with cl-app (as opposed to http/https). They are not intended to be human-readable, but do contain all the necessary details to uniquely identify the item and the subscription from which it originated.

Desktop Integration

The information in this section relates to the ContactsLaw Desktop App only.
  • You can copy a link to an item by selecting the Copy command from the context menu.
  • Depending on the destination, you may also be able to drag-and-drop the item into another application.
  • For some types of items (e.g. documents), you may need to use the Paste Special command to choose between an embedded file and the hyperlink.

Briefs

As an alternative to manually adding documents to a brief, you can scan the body of an existing document for links which follow this scheme.
