Backstage (Desktop App)

From ContactsLaw Documentation

The backstage area is a feature of the ribbon interface used by the Desktop App. It can be opened via the File button and provides access to various functions relating to the operation of the Desktop App itself (as opposed to ContactsLaw more generally).

Common Functions

Recent

Shows a list of recent contacts, matters and documents. These may be sourced from different businesses or offline sources. This allows you to quickly re-open an item you were previously working on.

Open

Opens a data file that was previously exported for offline viewing. This includes data shared with you by another subscriber. Offline content always opens in a separate window.

In Progress

Shows activities currently in progress (by you). You can switch to the window associated with a particular activity or resume an activity which you started elsewhere (including before you closed the Desktop App).

Phone

Opens the telephone line monitor.

Main Window Commands

New Window

Allows you to open another main window associated with a different business.

Work Offline

Closes all windows and places the Desktop App into offline mode. Useful for viewing offline data when you do not have a network connection.

Settings and Shutdown

Account

Shows information about your CPMS ID, subscription and the Desktop App itself.

Options

Configures the Desktop App, including location, look and feel, telephony and plug-ins. These options affect your experience on a particular device only - other users on the same computer are not affected.

Close Window

Closes the current window. If there are no remaining windows, the Desktop App itself also closes.

Exit

Closes all windows and the Desktop App itself.
